SalonManager vs Saptify

Obvious disclaimer first: I make SalonManager, so read this with that in mind. I've tried to be fair anyway. Everything about Saptify below comes from their own website, pricing page and app store listing on the date above. Prices and features change, so check their pricing page before you decide.

The short version. Saptify is a big all-in-one platform with apps, inventory, loyalty points, gift cards and a public salon directory, priced in dollars. SalonManager does less. It's QR booking with SMS in Sinhala, Tamil and English, priced in rupees, and aimed at small salons that mostly want the phone to stop ringing.

Price, in rupees

Saptify's Start plan is US$16 a month. At about Rs 300 to the dollar that's around Rs 4,800, and it moves whenever the rupee does. Their Expand plan (US$30) is roughly Rs 9,000 and Thrive (US$60) roughly Rs 18,000. Some features, like loyalty, promotions, inventory and gift cards, are extra on the first two plans and included on Thrive.

SalonManager is Rs 3,000, Rs 4,000 or Rs 6,000, and the number on the bill doesn't change with the exchange rate. For a one or two chair saloon, that gap matters more than any feature list.

SMS and language

This is the biggest practical difference. In Sri Lanka, email reminders mostly go unread, and plenty of customers use basic phones. SalonManager sends every confirmation and reminder by SMS, in the language the customer picked when booking. Saptify lists automated email notifications on all plans and an SMS gateway as a "contact us" item, so ask them what SMS costs before you compare totals.

Where Saptify is the better pick

If you run a larger salon or spa and want one system for bookings, retail stock, loyalty points, gift cards and card payments, Saptify covers far more ground than we do. Their staff and owner apps are native iOS and Android apps, and ours is a web app. Their public directory can also bring you new customers who are browsing for a salon, which SalonManager doesn't do at all.

Where SalonManager is the better pick

If your customers book by calling or messaging, pay in cash, and read Sinhala or Tamil more comfortably than English, SalonManager was built for exactly that salon. Setup takes an afternoon: add your services and hours, print the QR, stick it on the door. And the price is fixed in rupees.

Questions

Asked by owners comparing the two

Is Saptify cheaper than SalonManager?
